Vignesh N R dominates 2nd Warrior Chess Academy Rapid Rating Open 2025
GM Vignesh N R scored an unbeaten 8.5/9 to win 2nd Warrior Chess Academy Rapid Rating Open 2025. He finished a half point ahead of the field. Half a dozen players - IM Hari Madhavan N B, IM Harsh Suresh, IM Srihari L, IM Ravi Teja S, IM Senthil Maran K and GM Laxman R R scored 8/9 each. They were placed second to seventh respectively according to tie-breaks. The total prize fund was ₹300000. The top three prizes were ₹25000, ₹20000 and ₹15000 along with a trophy each. The one-day nine round Rapid Rating Open tournament was organized by Warrior Chess Academy at Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai, Tamil Nadu on 22nd November 2025. GM Vignesh N R made a perfect start by winning eight games in-a-row. He had a half point lead over the competition. IM Hari Madhavan N B was the only player trailing him by a half point at 7.5/8. Vignesh drew with Hari as it was enough for him to become a clear champion. Hari secured second place. IM Harsh Suresh defeated Saisarvesh S to finish third.
A total of 629 players including 3 GMs, 8 IMs and a WGM took part from all over the country, one from Canada, Egypt, South Korea, and two from South Korea and the USA each. The one-day nine round Rapid Rating Open tournament was organized by Warrior Chess Academy at Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai, Tamil Nadu on 22nd August 2025. The time control of the event was 10 minutes + 5 seconds increment per move.
