Mahdi Gholami Orimi wins 22nd Splimbergo Masters 2024, Kaustuv Kundu third
IM Mahdi Gholami Orimi (IRI), GM Marcin Tazbir (POL) and IM Kaustuv Kundu scored 7/9 each at 22nd Splimbergo Masters (>2000) 2024. Mahdi won the tournament due to better tie-break score. Marcin and Kaustuv were placed second and third respectively. The top two finishers remained undefeated. The total prize fund of the tournament combining four sections (Masters, Open A, B and C) was €8000. Top three prizes were €1500 and a cup, €800 and €600 each. The total participation combining four tournaments was 451, 154 in Masters (>2000), 140 in Open A (1700-2099), 80 in Open B (1500-1899) and 77 in Open C (Under 1700).

A total of 154 players including 14 GMs, 19 IMs, 5 WGMs and 6 WIMs took part in the Masters (>2000) tournament from 31 countries across the world. The Open A (1700-2099) category had 140 players, Open B (1500-1899) 80 and Open C (Under 1700) witnessed 77 players. All four tournaments were organized by Circolo scacchi "Le due torri" Spilimbergo from 9th to 15th August 2024 at Centro Sportivo La Favorita in Splimbergo, Italy. The time control was 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment.
