Md. Imran perfect at 1st Thiruvarur Rating Open 2025

IM Md. Imran won 1st Thiruvarur Rating Open 2025 with a 100% score 8/8. He finished a half point ahead of the rest. Dhanush Ragav N S scored sole 7.5/8 to secure second place. 13 players scored 6.5/8 each. Out of them, IM Ajay Santhosh Parvathareddy was placed third according to tie-breaks. The total prize fund was ₹400001. The top three prizes were ₹30001, ₹20000 and ₹15000 along with a trophy each. The four-day eight round Rating Open tournament was organized by Thiruvarur District Chess Association at Mangal Varadhar A/C Marriage Hall in Thiruvarur, Tamil Nadu from 3rd to 6th October 2025. Imran's eighth tournament triumph of the year

IM Md. Imran made a perfect start by winning seven games in-a-row. He was the sole leader heading into the final round. Dhanush Ragav N S and CM R Shadhursshaan were trailing by a half point at 6.5/7 each. Imran defeated Shadhursshaan to become a clear champion with a perfect score 8/8. Dhanush won against FM Ram S Krishnan to finish second. Tomy Mulackal Joseph lost to the top seed of the event, IM Ajay Santhosh Parvathareddy and the latter claimed third place.

A total of 320 players including two IMs took part from all over the country and one from Seychelles. The four-day eight round Rating Open tournament was organized by Thiruvarur District Chess Association at Mangal Varadhar A/C Marriage Hall in Thiruvarur, Tamil Nadu from 3rd to 6th October 2025. The time control of the event was 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment per move.
