Hari Madhavan best at 8th BBCF Rapid Rating Open 2024

IM Hari Madhavan N B scored an unbeaten 8.5/9 to win 8th BBCF Rapid Rating Open 2024. IM Praveen Kumar C, IM S Rohith Krishna and Vignesh B scored 8/9 each. They secured second, third and fourth place respectively. The top three finishers remained undefeated. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹300000. The top three prizes were ₹30000, ₹20000 and ₹12000 along with a trophy each. The two-day rating tournament was organized by Brains Behind Chess Foundation at KRM Public School in Chennai, Tamil Nadu on 12th May 2024. Invincible IMs claim the podium

IM Hari Madhavan N B was the sole leader 7.5/8 heading into the final round. As many as 13 players were in pursuit at 7/8 each. Hari's tie-break score was not the best. He had no other choice but to win to finish first. He defeated FM Md. Imran to become a clear champion. IM Praveen Kumar C and IM S Rohith Krishna won against Selvabharathy T and Arjun C Krishnamachari to secure second and third place respectively.

A total of 550 players including a GM, 7 IMs and a WIM took part from all over the country and one from Australia in this one-day nine round Rapid Rating Open tournament. It was organized by Brains Behind Chess Foundation at KRM Public School in Chennai, Tamil Nadu on 12th May 2024. The time control of the event was 10 minutes + 5 seconds increment per move.
