Hari Madhavan N B wins 2nd SRM Rapid Rating Open 2023

IM Hari Madhavan N B and IM Nitin S scored an unbeaten 8.5/9 at 2nd SRM Rapid Rating Open 2023. Hari won the tournament due to better tie-breaks, Nitin secured second place. Eight players scored 8/9. Out of them, GM Laxman R R was adjudged third according to tie-breaks. Top four remained undefeated. Hari's sole draw occured in the sixth round against Arjun C Krishnamachari. Nitin's lone draw was against the eventual second runner-up, Laxman in the penultimate round. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹200000. 12-year-old Aakash G scored an impressive 8/9 to finish sixth in tie-breaks. He is the youngest top ten finisher of the event.

A total of 730 players including 2 GMs and 10 IMs took part from various places all over the country and one from USA in this one-day nine round Rapid Rating Open tournament. It was organized by Sri Raghavendra Chess Academy and Master Mind Chess Academy at SRM Institute of Science and Technology in Chennai, Tamil Nadu on 24th September 2023. The time control of the event was 10 minutes + 5 seconds increment per move.
