Bharath Subramaniyam H perfect at 7th BBCF Rapid Rating Open 2024
GM Bharath Subramaniyam H scored a perfect 9/9 to win 7th BBCF Rapid Rating Open 2024. He finished a half point ahead of the field. Western Asian Junior 2023 Gold and Silver medalist, IM Harshavardhan G B secured sole second place 8.5/9. Four players - IM Srihari L R, Rohit S, Jaivant R and Sridhar C S scored 8/9 each. They were placed third to sixth according to tie-breaks. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹250000. The top three prizes were ₹25000, ₹15000 and ₹12000 along with a trophy each. The one-day rapid rating tournament was organized by Brains Behind Chess Foundation on 3rd February 2024 at Saveetha Dental College and Hospital in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Top class performance by the top seed Bharath
GM Bharath Subramaniyam H won eight games in-a-row to gain sole lead 8/8, heading into the final round. IM Harshavardhan G B and FM Karthik Rajaa were the only two pursuers at 7.5/8 each. Bharath defeated Karthik and Harshavardhan won against GM Akash G to secure first and second place respectively. IM Srihari L R won against Bhaavan Kolla to finish third.
A total of 523 players including two GMs and seven IMs took part from various states across the country and one from the USA. The one-day nine round Rapid Rating tournament was organized by Brains Behind Chess Foundation at Saveetha School of Management - Saveetha Dental College and Hospital in Chennai, Tamil Nadu on 3rd February 2024. The time control of the event was 10 minutes + 5 seconds increment.
