Apoorv Kamble dominates Mynavathi Memorial Rapid Rating Open 2025

IM Apoorv Kamble scored an unbeaten 8.5/9 to win Mynavathi Memorial Rapid Rating Open 2025. He finished a half point ahead of the rest. IM Chakravarthi Reddy M scored sole 8/9 to secure second place. Five players - IM Kushagra Mohan, IM Sai Agni Jeevitesh J, FM Syed Anwar Shazuli, IM Aakash Sharadchandra Dalvi and Shivanth M scored 7.5/9 each. They secured third to seventh place respectively. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹500000. The top three prizes were ₹50000, ₹35000 and ₹30000 along with a trophy each. The tournament was organized in loving memory of Mrs. Mynavathi K G. The one-day nine round Rapid Rating Open tournament was organized by First Move Chess Academy at Manasa Gangothri Indoor Stadium in Mysuru, Karnataka from 25th December 2025. IM Apoorv Kamble and IM Kushagra Mohan were the coleaders 7.5/8, heading into the last round. IM Chakravarthi Reddy M was the sole pursuer at 7/8. Apoorv defeated Kushagra to become a clear champion, Kushagra finished third. P R Hrithickkesh lost to Chakravarthi and the latter claimed second place.

The event aimed to promote high-level chess while giving back to society through meaningful contributions. As part of the tournament’s social initiative, the organiser Bharath M, along with team members Vijetha C K, Arun D, Darshan V P S, Ravikiran D J, and Vinayak Hariwal, contributed a total of ₹50000 from the tournament fund.

• ₹25000 was donated to Srujan, a 19-year-old boy from H D Kote, to support his needs.

• ₹25000 was donated to Puttamadamma, a cancer patient, in the loving memory of Late Mrs. Mynavathi K G, who herself was a cancer survivor.

A total of 273 players including seven IMs took part from all over the country, also two from Australia. The one-day nine round Rapid Rating Open tournament was organized by First Move Chess Academy at Manasa Gangothri Indoor Stadium in Mysuru, Karnataka from 25th December 2025. The time control of the event was 15 minutes + 5 seconds increment per move.
